Delta hires flight attendants through a series of online screens, an on-demand video interview on HireVue, and an in-person Event Day at its Atlanta headquarters. Here's what each step involves, what Delta says it looks for, and how to prepare for the recorded round.
Last checked October 2026 against Delta Air Lines's careers pages and candidate reports.
Delta uses HireVue for the on-demand interview. Delta doesn't publish the format, but candidates consistently report around five questions, roughly 30 seconds to prepare for each and two to three minutes to answer.
Reports differ on re-records: some candidates were allowed to retake an answer, others had a single attempt. Prepare as if your first take is the one that counts.
The questions are behavioural: they ask for a real time something happened, not what you would do. Thirty seconds is enough to pick a story, not to plan it, so the preparation has to happen before the interview.
Delta lists its values as integrity, resilience, care and servant leadership. Servant leadership comes up again and again: putting the customer and your crew ahead of your own convenience. Your answers don't need to name the values, but your stories should show them, especially care and resilience under pressure.
Paraphrased from candidate reports. Expect different wording, and questions built around the same themes.
Delta tightened its reapplication wait from 90 days to six months in 2026, so a weak attempt now costs you half a year. Practice the recorded round properly before you open the invitation.
Delta's candidate appearance requirements say visible tattoos must be covered, by clothing or by makeup, not bandages. One small nose stud is allowed and no other facial piercings; up to two earrings per ear, no bigger than a dime, and no stretched or gauged ears. Delta publishes these requirements for each hiring round, so read the current version before Event Day.
Delta checks appearance at Event Day, so dress as if you're already in uniform: a conservative suit in navy, black or grey (a pantsuit, or a skirt or dress below the knee), closed-toe shoes, minimal jewellery and no strong fragrance. Hair past the shoulders should be fully pulled back. For the HireVue recording, the same top half works: plain, solid colours and good light.
Delta doesn't publish a timeline, and candidate reports vary widely. Some hear back within a week of the HireVue interview; others wait weeks or months. From application to offer, reports range from about six weeks to six months or more, depending on how many people Delta is hiring in that round.
Delta doesn't publish a minimum height. What matters is reach: candidates report needing to reach overhead equipment at around 74 to 76 inches without shoes, and to fit the jumpseat harness without an extension.
Not visible ones. Delta's candidate appearance requirements say tattoos must be covered by clothing or makeup, not bandages.
Business professional: a conservative suit in navy, black or grey, closed-toe shoes, minimal jewellery, and long hair pulled back.
There's no fixed timeline. Candidates report anywhere from about a week to several months after the HireVue interview.
